ADAM – NEW YORK S/S 2012 FASHION SHOW

ADAM FASHION SHOW VIDEO BY XXXX MAGAZINE

Adam’s Spring Summer 2012 collection opened with a panoply of the lilac and sherbet pink tones that reappeared throughout New York Fashion Week. Soft shades were complimented with an airy drift of light, floating materials, which moved in breezy wafts as they clung to the striding feminine form. The feel of spring manifested itself in Adam’s use of sheer, silky and translucent fabrics which were layered to create both texture and varying shades. Among lilac silk blouses and pantaloons, Adam instilled into his collection a hint of sports luxe through the inclusion of draw-string pants – another key trend on next season’s catwalks. Models looked pretty and feminine with swept back hair and soft make-up which added to the collections feminine focus.

As the collection revealed itself, so did a variety of low-key prints and detailing, from polka dots to washy peony florals, military detailing on breast panels and subtle gem-stoning on collars. With such a range of detailing it is hard to pin down just where Adam got his inspiration for the collection from. Silhouettes were kept prim, sophisticated and pretty with lowered waistline dresses, tutu skirts and high, buttoned or tied necklines. Cropped, folded-up trousers and shift dresses calmed down the more billowing looks, as did the show’s statement military jackets. Adam’s collection moved the heavy trends of Autumn Winter towards a lighter, minimalistic, feminine and easy-breezy direction where prints and fabrics collided in a frenzical flurry of freshness.
