Y-3 – NEW YORK A/W 2010 FASHION SHOW

Y-3 – NEW YORK A/W 2010 FASHION SHOW

Finding inspiration in traditional military garb, sportswear and deconstruction; Yohji Yamamotomanaged to inject this seasons Y-3 collection with equal parts of humor and style. Tunes by Simon & Garfunkel set to an industrial light show by the British Art Collective UVA set a very playful mood for the show. Melding technology with tradition; English tailoring was reinterpreted with futuristic shapes in classic materials. Oversized cashmere track and jumpsuits, sweater jackets, shawls and flight jackets that unraveled into long sweeping capes were presented in a vibrant color palette. Humorous slogans adorned kitten patches with tongue-in-cheek phrases such as “I’m thinking prison break” and “World is not fair”; giving a lightheartedness to this innovative collection.
