THE DOKTEURS

http://profile.myspace.com

Brett Hammond is a songwriter/guitarist who had been ‘Almost Famous’ several times, found himself in ruins after the singer in his last band self-destructed on tour in London. At the same time a friend of his (Derek P. Brown) was also being royally screwed by his bosses at Lehmann Brothers on Wall St. The suit met the rocker in a bar and in a time honored tradition they started a new band. Shotgun weddings can be better than shotguns in banks. The two of them labored in the bowels of Brooklyn for some months before the collapse of the Finance Industry acted as their midwife and they finally gave birth to The Dokteurs.

Brett loves rock and guitars but has a snap, crackle and pop ear for melodies that melt the hardest hearts. Derek has a ‘Golden Voice’ – one of those rare and fortunate people who are blessed with a set of pipes that Pan would be happy to dance with. Some say he sounds like Jeff Buckley, others say Thom Yorke. Brett thinks he sounds like Derek. Between the two of them, they sound like The Dokteurs. Listen to them. Make up your own mind and find your own comparisons.

The Dokteurs track ‘Requiem’ taken from their EP ‘Howling Lightly’ and featured on the soundtrack of Carlo Mirabella Davis’s film ‘Knife Point’ which was a Sundance 2009 official selection at this year’s festival and the soundtrack to which will be available in the coming months.

They are currently in the studio working on finishing their feature length album to be released later this year.
