VALENTINO HAUTE COUTUREĀ – PARIS F/W 2011 FASHION SHOW
The Italian fashion house Valentino, ventured into Russian history for their collection for Haute Couture Fall/Winter 2011. In rich velvets, lace, satins, and cashmere, the gowns have a fairytale-like essence. Maria Grazia Chiuri and Pier Paolo Piccioli together have achieved a collection that is a breathtaking testament to the history of Valentino as well, even if from a foreign starting point.
Chevron patterns of dresses cut on the bias elongate and strengthen the silhouettes and seem to barely hover on the body, falling perfectly. Braiding gently accents the neck and waist of several dresses. A varied collection, the shimmer of sheer dresses, the dense lightness of the velvet, the gentleness of the lace, the antique feel of button that climbed sleeves or blouses, all somehow came off as modern, and appropriate for a wide range of ages.
