The show opened with a floor-sweeping number: a simple royal blue jersey dress with an incongruous train nearly the length of the runway, a headpiece that brought to mind the Mad Hatter. Trailing fabric abounded and a pair of cutaway coats were highlights.
Elsewhere, Yamamoto showed quite a variety of experimentation. Very sport looks with zips of yellow stitching, channel drawstrings and canvas tennis shoes – to romantic, French revolutionary-inspired full skirts in built-up layers with paper-bag pleats, padded busts and magnificently corseted waists.
