Color Shock was what Elie Saab so appropriately named his SS12 eveningwear collection that shimmered and floated down the runway in shades of vivid deep yellows, royal blues, emerald greens, and rich earthy oranges. After opening the show with simple garments in shades of whites, the Lebanese designer showcased the categorized bursts of solid colors, interrupted only by the shimmering of sequins that seemed to be the favored element of detail throughout this collection. When sequins were not being used, Saab still made a dramatic statement with long floating veils of airy fabric that danced around the models as they breezed down the catwalk. Also streaming throughout the line was the play on necklines and lofty slits, as well as the subtle use of lace across shoulders and breasts, and the simple, short, and formfitting wool day dresses that grounded the extremely rich and elaborate evening gowns that shined down the runway.
