Split into two distinct look-book chapters, Alexandre Herchcovitch’s S/S collection drew on the elegance of mid 20th century silhouettes in an elegant, easy-to wear manner. Matt metallic materials were paired with zesty sherbet tones of yellow and covered in gold and silver thread flower applique which gave the collection an oriental feel. However, this oriental sway did not reside for long as classic 50s silhouette dresses appeared and gradually morphed into loungewear style corsets and silky cropped pants. Counteracting this approach surfaced a blend of elegant work wear in the form of classic shift dresses, loose fitting pencil skirts and pinafore dresses. Key features in the collection included silk knows which added to the effortless, yet chic, styling. As the collection progressed, crimson detailing was brought in to make the candy yellow shades pop. A ‘peaches and cream’ complexion guided the make-up for the show.
Attention was paid to adding fine coloured glitters in green, red and blue shades to create a jewelled opal effect. Hair was tightly slicked back and kept simple with subtly messed-up chignons. Channelling Alexandre’s 1940’s, 50’s and 60’s inspired collection, both the hair and make-up delivered the models onto the catwalk looking like well-rounded, pretty, modern women. Not to miss accessories included a range of white, round-shaped sunglasses set in half-moon and full-moon frames which maintained the collections modern edge and saved it from falling back a few centuries.
