ASHLEY ISHAM – LONDON S/S 2012 FASHION SHOW
Ashley Isham left his home country of Singapore in 1996 to come to London to study. He set up his eponymous label in 2000 and showed his first LFW collection for AW03. Inspired by the opulence of the late baroque period, this collection exudes luxury. Floor length robes flow behind models, lustrous fabrics drape beautifully across the body and shape is defined with decorative laser cut gold belts and ornate collars. Metallic, paisley and floral fabrics are used on some of the more contemporary dresses as well as laser-cut metallic gold skirts and floral applique fabrics. The baroque period inspiration is again mirrored in the ornamental head garlands and bridal veils worn with some pieces that are reminiscent of the decoration used around the heads of icons in traditional religious art.
