The Charlie Le Mindu SS12 collection named Burka Curfew was made into a grand spectacle at the new On|Off venue in Paris with famous French actress Rossy de Palma closing the show. Inspired by Arabia and the film “Dance of the Seven Veils”, Le Mindu carried elements of ‘concealment, exposure and empowerment’ throughout his collection. He did this by elevating the Middle Eastern silhouette to more voluptuous shapes and a new-age appeal. The excitement of the show was in the grandeur of the fashion hairpieces, which were composed of the best of the natural human hair extensions. These large creations were a combination of jet-black and piercing royal blue, and were adorned with their own ornaments of patent leather, braids, veils of chiffon, and scales of gold. All sporting deep red lips and dark eyes reminiscent of the ancient Egyptian use kohl, Le Mindu’s models made a powerful statement whether nude under bodysuits of sheer black chiffon, and in dresses of human hair.
