The first group show for Concept Korea was held at New York Fashion Week. Concept Korea was created to help “globalize Korean fashion” – created to advertise and market Korean fashion to a universal audience. The collection featured Korean designers: Kwak Hyun Joo, Juyoung Lee and Lee Jean Youn. Each collection reached for a different type of wearer including Japanese-like anime, futuristic, genderless pieces.
Of the three collections presented, Resurrection came off as the most interesting showing some rather wearable strong pieces. Lee Jean Youn also had some interesting looks, although many of the pieces felt a bit too pushed. The simpler more structural pieces were by far more successful over the candy-colored looks.
