In November 2006 Giles Deacon was awarded ‘British Designer of the Year’ at the British Fashion Awards. Listing “Slimbridge Wildfowl & Wetlands Trust; Kraftwerk Kling Klang and the catalogue of The Crash Exhibition at the Gagosian Gallery” as the inspiration behind his latest offering and protesting “This is so not a collection about Black Swan,” Giles has created a magical and beautiful collection, whatever the inspiration. Giant feather shapes, electrifying metallics and intricately ornate laser-cut foil items teamed with swan printed staples, this collection was dramatic, feminine and strong.
