Hope and Fate a surreal fashion film featuring Manuel Albarran’s Surrealist Metal Couture Collection was directed and edited by Monika Elkelv. Featuring model Jessica Piani, with styling by Sergio Crevillen and music by Joel Cahen.

MONIKA ELKELV

Monica Elkelv is a filmmaker and art director. Her interests range from the aesthetics of the human body in art movements and the incorporation of the personal-identity in to avant-garde forms. Elkelv’s films have been exhibited in Spain, London, Toronto, New York, L.A., Paris, and Bolivia. Elkelv is directing fashion films, video art and working as a freelance art director for feature films and commercials. Her latest art direction commission film “Beyond the Fire” by Maeve Murphy was been the winner of “Best UK Feature” at London Independent Film Festival 2009 and “Best International Feature” at State Garden Film Festival in New Jersey.

SERGIO CREVILLEN

Sergio Crevillen is an Spanish fashion editor. He has worked for the last two years as a fashion director of Avenue Illustrated Magazine (Spain), and as a stylist in advertisement and fashion campaigns.

After finishing his studies in fashion, he starts to build a self-taught career researching and working in different art fields. His work includes collaboration with diverse artists, exhibitions and projects in cities around the world, publicity, periodic works in cinema, video art, video clips and important publicity campaigns, aside a notorious specialization in corset and metal art. At present he dedicates to research a new artistic concept of metal: METAL COUTURE, developing through the careful combination of metal and different materials and techniques for fashion, art and cinema.

JOEL CAHEN

Joel Cahen is a London-based curator, filmmaker and sound artist. Since 2001 he has worked as sound designer and composer on a number of installations, films, theatre and dance productions. He collaborated with members of The Black Poodle at Tate Britain in 2003 to considerable critical acclaim. He is a curator organizing a series of experimental art and music events in London since 2002 including ‘Evil Art’ at the 291 Gallery, and ‘The Wormhole Saloon’ at The Whitechapel Gallery. In 2008 he created Wet Sounds, an underwater sound art gallery which tours swimming pools worldwide and which features live sound performances by the likes of Nurse With Wound, Francisco Lopez and Leafcutter John among others. Joel regularly hosts a show on Resonance fm in London called SoundSoup where he DJs mashups and abstract sound narratives.
