DJ Kye Lee
“Kye Lee was born in Austin, Texas and started on the piano at the age of 3 and she was immediately immersed into all the classics. Once adolescence hit and her taste for music began to grow and expand, including genres from hip-hop and pop to country and rock, there was not a night that went by she wasn’t up past bedtime, discretely listening to CDs and the radio with the volume turned low, recording mix tapes. Her first trip in those teenage years to her parents’ hometown of Seoul, Korea introduced her to the international music scene, and getting scolded for spending every last penny of allowance on CDs was common.
Urged half-jokingly by a friend that she spent enough time in clubs listening to DJs that she should try DJing, Kye started playing around with vinyl and turntables, and in the funny way that life works sometimes, and within months, a friend introduced her to a DJ agency, STADJ Model/DJs, which led to her first professional gigs at major venues such as Avenue NYC, various W Hotel locations around NYC, and Harrah’s Casino Atlantic City. In just two years, her resume of clients expanded to include hotspots such as Greenhouse, Juliet Supperclub, Thompson Hotel, Dream Hotel NYC downtown, and Colony L.A., among numerous private and corporate parties and events. Good vibes, good energy, and illuminating those vibes through music are her focus on the decks; this model dj is one that’s NOT just for show.”
