Designer Michelle Smith studied fashion illustration at an art school and later went to New York’s Fashion Institute of Technology. After an internship at Hermes in Paris, Smith stayed on to study at the design school of ESMOD. After returning to New York, Smith finally launched her own label, Milly. Smith showcased her Spring 2011 collection with bright colorful florals, turban headbands, and geometric prints with a retro twist, mixing in her new jewelry and handbag lines, which helped complete the look. The background for the show, complete with pink catwalk, was a massive mobile inspired by artist Alexander Calder.
