QASIMI HOMME – PARIS S/S 2012 FASHION SHOW

Influenced by the political uproar in North African countries, Qasimi Homme for Spring/Summer 2012 brings baroque style, anti-establishment revolution, and Arabic touches all to the same table in his collection entitled “Seizure”.

Head designer of the label, Khalid AlQasimi, who hails from the United Arab Emirates once again chose stunning prints for this season, most notably in the decadently swirled suits, one even bearing the shape of an “X” on the back – a punk feel to the looks which come off as very clean and polished. Even the face mask scarves are pretty in spite of their intimidating appearance. Perhaps he was also referencing a law passed in France recently which forbids the use of full facial coverings in public places – a clearly anti-Arabic regulation.

As political as his messages might be, the designs remained classicly attractive in spite of their protest. Clean cut models with closely cropped hair gave the appearance that they might be soldiers who happen to work part-time as models. There is also a harder edge with bomber jackets and motorcycle style jackets mixed in among tailored suits.
