The 1977 film La Communion Solennelle, by René Féret’s inspired Véronique Leroy’s SS12 collection where once again, her theme of the costume shines through in her garments. The roles that described her creations included that of a strong aunt, a lamb mother, and a demure teen. The further abstraction of these characters resulted in clean white smocks, large button-down shirts, cropped tops, and knee-length skirts, as well as brown knitted cardigans and dresses, and brown linen skirt ensembles. The silhouettes of her garments are simple and classic, yet her addition of colorful zebra stripe prints add a retro touch to the 50s outline of the skirts. All in all, Leroy adds a sweet and innocent touch to this collection of transformed uniforms for which she has an obsession.
