CHRISTIAN LACROIX – PARIS F/W 2012 FASHION SHOW
With cross motifs, and a bit of kitsch thrown in with relaxed, classic menswear design, the Christian Lacroix Fall/Winter 2012 collection cautiously attempts to toe the line between safe and daring. The exceptional explosive print used in a sporty ensemble unfortunately stuck out like a bit of a sore thumb in comparison to the rest of the collection. Nothing else matched this boldness.
The elements are all there, but where is this man going? Who is he? The Christian Lacroix man seems a bit confused about the answers to both of these questions, even if he does have many wonderful pieces in the closet. The kitschy button crosses on the back of a jacket, on the front of a sweat shirt are youthful and fun; the shiny fire-engine red trouser with the muted grey coat are a more sophisticated, bold, yet casual, look. The faux cummerbund button up shirts are a terrific idea that seem only halfway fleshed out. This has been a season of ups and downs chez Christian Lacroix.
